Jangchungo’s left-handed ace Hwang Jun-seo had a scary moment when a pitch hit him in the leg.
Jangchung-go came from behind to win 4-3 in the first game of the 78th Cheongnyonggi National High School Baseball Championship against Jungang-go at Mokdong Baseball Stadium on Wednesday.
Chungang scored two runs in the top of the first inning off Jangchungo starter Kim Yoon-ha.
Jangchungo got a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI triple by Kim Jae-ik, but gave up a run in the top of the sixth inning to fall behind 3-1. With runners in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, Jang Chung-go was unfortunate to see a well-hit ball go straight to the outfield.
While the bats went silent, Jang Chung-go’s ironclad mound came into play. Kim Yoon-ha, Cho Dong-wook, Yuk Sun-yeop, and Hwang Jun-seo, all top draft picks, took the mound.
Starting pitcher Kim Yoon-ha faced 18 batters in five innings and threw 64 pitches, allowing three runs on three hits with six strikeouts.
Cho Dong-wook pitched two innings of three-hit ball with two strikeouts and one earned run, Yuk Seon-yeop pitched 0.2 innings of hitless relief with one strikeout, and Hwang Jun-seo pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.
In the top of the eighth inning, Jang Chung-go’s bullpen got busy. In the top of the eighth, Kim Hyun-soo hit a ball that went right into the legs of Yuk Sun-yeop. Hwang Jun-seo came on in relief and got Yeo Kang-woon to ground out to short before striking out Ko In-sung to put out the fire. 메이저놀이터 추천
Jang Chung-go battled back in the bottom of the eighth with three consecutive pinch-hit singles. With just three outs to win the game, Hwang Jun-seo took the mound to pitch the top of the ninth.
After striking out the leadoff batter, Son Young-seung, he was hit in the leg by a hard-hit pitch from Kim Jae-woo. After Yook Sun-yeop was hit by a pitch earlier in the game, Hwang Jun-seo was hit by a pitch as well.
Fearing injury, Hwang Jun-seo quickly raised his hands to reassure the stunned dugout that he was okay and struck out the next batter, Kim Bum-joon, to preserve the win.
