The second and third black referees in the Major League Baseball (MLB) have been appointed.
On the 20th (hereafter Korean time), the Major League Commissioner’s Office announced the retirement of 10 major league referees and announced the appointment of seven new referees.
Among the seven newly announced managers, Alan Porter (45) and Adrian Johnson (47) were named the second and third black referee managers in 안전놀이터 major league history.
Kerwin Danley (61) is the first black umpire in the major leagues.
In February 2020, Danley became the first African-American to be appointed chief umpire in the major leagues and retired after the 2021 season.
Porter, who became the chief black referee following Dan Lee, took charge of his first big league game in 2010 and became a regular major league referee in 2013.
Johnson, who became teammate with Porter, made his big league debut in 2006 and became a full-time regular referee in 2010.
Meanwhile, Major League Baseball announced that it promoted 10 minor league umpires in place of 10 retired umpires.
