Gimcheon Sangmu pulled off a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Ansan Greeners in the 17th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at Gimcheon Sports Complex at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gimcheon smiled after a long time. The victory over Ansan was their first in five games. The joy was doubled as it was the debut of head coach Jung Jung-yong.
“We needed a win, and it was great to get the result,” said Cho Young-wook in the post-match press conference.
“I wanted to score a goal at home, and I will try to score as many goals as possible in the future,” he said.
Cho sealed the win for Gimcheon with two penalty kicks. There were some close calls. He missed a second chance. The referee ruled that Ansan’s goalkeeper moved first, so he tried again and succeeded, but it was a heartbreaking moment. 안전놀이터
Cho said, “My second attempt was shaky. I think I kicked it in a hurry. Fortunately, I had a chance. The third time, I was confident and sure,” he recalled.
In Gimcheon, Cho was reunited with his mentor, Jung Jung-yong, with whom he finished runner-up at the 2019 U-20 World Cup.
“I’m very happy to see him again after four years. We know each other very well, so I’m looking forward to the synergy.”
