The aftermath of the ‘World Scouting Jamboree’ is having an ‘adverse effect’ on the K League. The FA Cup quarterfinal match between Jeonbuk Hyundai and Incheon United, which was originally scheduled to be held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 9th, has been postponed. FC Seoul was also forced to relinquish its home venue, Seoul World Cup Stadium, at short notice.
The Korea Football Association (hereinafter referred to as the association) announced on August 8 that it has decided to postpone the 2023 Hana OneQ FA Cup semifinal match between Jeonbuk and Incheon, which was scheduled to be held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 9th, and the match schedule will be announced later after consultation between the association and the two clubs.”
According to the association, due to the issue of holding a K-POP concert for the ‘World Scouting Jamboree’, the Jeonju World Cup stadium could not be used on the same day, so the association reviewed the competition regulations. It then decided to postpone the match at around 12 noon on July 7 and notified both clubs in writing.
“We would like to announce that we plan to maintain the postponement decision made yesterday, given the variable situation of various factors such as Typhoon ‘Kanun’ in the north,” the association said. “We regret that the variables related to the ‘World Scouting Jamboree Event’ have disrupted the schedules and preparations of everyone, including football fans who planned to attend the match and the two clubs preparing for the home and away matches.”
The decision, which was practically a unilateral notification from the association, caused great losses to both clubs who were preparing for the match. In particular, Incheon, who played a K League 1 match against Jeonbuk at Jeonju World Cup Stadium last weekend and did not return to Korea but stayed in Jeonju to prepare for the FA Cup, suffered great financial and mental damage.
Seoul was also caught in the middle of a sudden ‘firestorm’. The World Scout Jamboree K-Pop concert could not be held at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium due to the aftermath of the typhoon Kanun, and it was decided to move the event to the Seoul Metropolitan Area, 먹튀검증 where the Seoul World Cup Stadium was ultimately selected.
“It has been confirmed that the ‘World Scouting Jamboree’ K-POP concert will be held at Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 11th,” the KFA announced, “and the match between Jeonbuk and Suwon Samseong, which was scheduled to be held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 12th at 7pm, will go ahead as scheduled.”
Seoul is not without its own problems, as the city hosted the first and second rounds of the Coupang Playoffs last month, and has been experiencing an unprecedented rainy season and heat wave since July. This will be compounded by the fact that the World Scouting Jamboree K-Pop concert will be held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, further damaging the turf.
