Klinsmann’s first win has come up short again.
The South Korean national team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, lost 0-1 to Peru at the Hana Bank Invitational A Match Trial at the Busan Asiad Stadium at 8pm on Saturday.
Klinsmann’s side were looking for their first win since their inauguration, but they will have to wait and see.
South Korea deployed a 4-4-2 formation. Oh Hyun-gyu and Hwang Hee-chan formed the front two, flanked by Lee Jae-sung and Lee Kang-in. Hwang In-beom and Won Doo-jae formed the midfield, while Lee Ki-je, Park Ji-soo, Jung Seung-hyun, and Ahn Hyun-beom formed the defence. Kim Seung-gyu was in goal.
It was Peru who took the early lead. In the fourth minute of the first half, Paulo Guerrero picked up a loose ball after a defensive error and connected with a sharp shot. Then, in the ninth minute, they took the lead. Brian Reina, who was unmarked, picked up the ball too easily and slotted it home.
Stung by the blow, South Korea fought back, centred around Lee Kang-in, and had their chances. However, they were unable to capitalise on their chances due to poor link-ups. In the 24th minute, Hwang Hee-chan set up Hoesim’s shot after a daring breakaway, but the defence blocked it.
South Korea continued to create chances. In the 27th minute, Oh Hyun-gyu received a sharp pass from Lee Kang-in, but he put his head down as his shot was well wide of the target. In the 33rd minute, Lee Kang-in knocked Peru out of the game with a threatening left-footed shot. He also had a shot on target from a free-kick in stoppage time, but it was blocked by the defence and the first half ended fruitlessly.
South Korea had the decisive chance. In the 16th minute of the second half, Hwang Hee-chan won the ball under pressure on the left flank and released a pass after a dribble. Oh Hyun-gyu found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but was unable to capitalise on the chance and immediately pulled out his substitution card. Oh Hyun-gyu and Lee Jae-sung were removed and Cho Kyu-sung and Hong Hyun-seok were introduced. 메이저사이트
Peru’s offence was threatening. They exploited the empty space behind the Korean defence and looked to add to their tally with sharp attacking moves. Korea made a change when Won Doo-jae went down with an injury and Park Yong-woo came on.
