‘Monster’ Holland, EPL 35th goal new record… Man City take the lead in one day

Manchester City, with monster striker Erling Holland, took the lead in the English Premier League (EPL) in one day. Haaland scored his 35th league goal, setting a new record for most goals in a season.

Man City won 3-0 in the home game against West Ham in the 2022-23 EPL Round 28 held at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England on the 4th (Korean time).

Man City, who had won 9 consecutive wins, pushed Arsenal (78 points) to 2nd place in one day with 25 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses (79 points) and rose to the lead. Man City have played one game less than Arsenal.

West Ham remained in 15th place (34 points).

Man City, who finished the first half 0-0, took the lead with Nathan Ake’s goal in the 5th minute of the second half, and Haaland scored an additional goal in the 25th minute of the second half.

In a counterattack situation, Haaland, who received a pass from Jack Grealish, shook the net with a shot that passed the goalkeeper’s key with his left foot in a one-on-one confrontation with the West Ham goalkeeper.

With this goal, Haaland scored his 35th goal in the league and set the record for the most goals in a single EPL season. The previous record was 34 goals by Andy Cole in 1994 and Alan Shearer in 1995.

When Cole and Shearer scored 34 goals, the number of games was 42, unlike now (38 games).

Haaland showed off his strength by scoring 51 goals in 45 games throughout this season, including 35 league goals. He scored 35 goals in the league, 3 goals in the English Football Association (FA) Cup, 1 goal in the League Cup and 12 goals in the European Football Federation Champions League.

Haaland, who wrote a new EPL history, challenges the record for the most goals in a season. The record for most goals in a single season in the English league was 63 by Dixie Dean in 1928.

Haaland can play nine more matches, including five regular league matches, one FA Cup match and up to three Champions League matches. 메이저사이트
