The NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization have made a move. They’ve signed a new foreign pitcher to replace Taylor Widener.
The club announced on Thursday that it had requested a waiver from the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) and signed pitcher Tanner Tully, 29, as a replacement foreign player.
Tanner, a native of Indiana, USA, is a left-handed pitcher with a physical build of 188 centimeters and 92 kilograms. He throws a 144-148 mph four-seam fastball with a mix of pitches including a slider, changeup, and curve.
He has been a starter for most of his career and is considered to have good stamina and a reliable delivery.
Tanner began his professional career after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers (then the Indians) in the 2016 draft.
He made his major league debut last year, going 3-0 with a 6.00 ERA in three big league appearances. In the minors, he went 44-51 with a 4.18 ERA in 159 games (131 starts).
He also pitched in 19 games (19 starts) for Triple-A New York Yankees this season, going 5-5 with a 5.64 ERA.
NC Dinos general manager Lim Sun-nam said, “He is a left-handed pitcher who has been a consistent starter. We look forward to more stable game management as a starting pitcher.”
Tanner said, “I’m excited to join NC. I’m excited to play baseball in front of our amazing fans. I’m looking forward to working with my teammates to stay healthy and give my best effort every game to help the team win.”
Tanner will join the team as soon as the necessary administrative processes are finalized, including obtaining a visa.
