The Hanwha Eagles ended a two-game losing streak with a sweep of the SSG Landers.
Hanwha avenged a 7-9 loss the day before with a 7-0 sweep of SSG in their 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League home game at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Monday. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved their season record to 33 wins, 4 draws, and 40 losses. SSG, on the other hand, improved to 46 wins, 1 loss and 31 draws.
Hanwha scored the first two runs in the top of the third inning against SSG starter Oh Won-seok. Lee Do-yoon led off with a walk and came home on Lee Jin-young’s double to right. Kim Tae-yeon followed with a single, advancing Lee to third and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Noh Si-hwan to make the score 2-0.
While the SSG batters were shut down by Felix Peña, Hanwha scored two more runs with two home runs. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Choi Jae-hoon led off with a solo home run off a 114 km/h curveball from Oh Won-seok that hit the left field foul pole. It was Choi’s first home run of the season.
In the bottom of the sixth, Chae Eun-sung took advantage of a 139 km/h slider from reliever Lee Roon for a solo home run over the center field fence. It was her 11th home run of the season, 21 days after hitting her 10th against Kiwoom in Daejeon last month. The score was 4-0. 해외안전놀이터 추천
Hanwha tacked on one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Jung Eun-won single to right, a sacrifice bunt by Lee Do-yoon and a sacrifice fly by Lee Jin-young, and pinch-hitter Kim In-hwan scored on another Lee slider. Noh Si-hwan singled to left and Chae Eun-sung doubled to right to bring in one more run, making the score 7-0. The game ended with no more runs for Hanwha.
SSG Oh Won-seok was relieved after four innings of three-run ball, and Peña picked up his seventh win of the season with seven innings of three-hit ball, three walks and six strikeouts. Kim Bum-soo and Lee Chung-ho followed with one inning each to close out the game. Choi Jae-hoon, Chae Eun-sung, and Kim In-hwan stood out with home runs, while Lee Jin-young had two hits and two RBIs, including the game-winner, Jung Eun-won had two hits and one RBI, and Noh Si-hwan had one hit and one RBI.
